Ouch. Just, ouch.

So one of my photos on the Sagebrush website got a comment. And. It sort of makes me incredibly defensive. So, here it is. Let me know what you think.

"I was wondering how you get involved in taking the pictures for this site of the paper because I was there for the band and took pictures that were as good or better than the one shown. I am very interested in photography. Any response would be great."

Halo 3

Whoever designed the Halo 3 advertising campaign is a fucking genius. You have no idea how much this campaign has hooked me. I didn't even think I'd play Halo 3, now I'm contemplating buying a 360 and Halo 3. Microsoft knows exactly what they're doing. They know they have a good amount of people who will buy the game no matter what. So the ads and such out now have nothing to do with the established core. This core already plays because they know the game and they want to finish the fight and blah blah. But what the ads are doing is creating an entire mythology around the game. It's bringing the game to a more literary crowd. I could be getting this all wrong, but it's what I'm getting. This mythological epic is coming to a close, are you going to be there when it ends?

I believe that one day people will study Harry Potter, The Matrix, and Halo for classes. I believe these types of media will define our society to future generations.

Woooo 4:30 am. Getting ready for a marathon day of shooting, developing, getting tickets, producing, learning, and haloing. Oh lord. If I sleep now I can get 2 and a half hours of sleep. Or. I could just not.

Two new projects and a question.

I'm starting a self portrait that will be web based. Essentially it will be a lot of pages with hidden links and regular links that sort of maps out my brain. In the site will be personal information, stories, photos, memories, and a slew of things I have yet to come up with. It's really pretty so far.

What I want to know is if anyone has any idea how i'd put this on the web easily without paying money. Any help is appreciated.

My second plan is a more involved one. I plan to visit my past homes in order from most recent to where I was born. I believe I'll be going all the way back to Italy. But I don't believe Italy has much significance on my life. It's going to be documented by film, images, audio, sketches, and anytrhing else, recipts. I'll be going alone I believe. it'll be neat, even if it only turns out to be for me, it's worth it.

I want to do this as a job.

I make cd covers, band logos, book covers, flyers, and a bunch of other crap. I wonder if there's any hope for me in that department. Is that just "graphic design"? Or is it more advertising-y?

Anyhow. Examples. Yay for pretty things!

It's over.

Today was my final day at Kiddie Kandids. I have to admit it leaves me feeling incredibly relieved.

And now balloons.

This was one of the most magical experinces of my life. Despite what the column that ran alongside my photos says, the Great Reno Balloon Race is a fantastic event. One I will forever remember. Plus it's really pretty,

Pancakes.

Long overdue. here are some photos from the midnight pancake event. It was odd to see hundreds of students show up in the middle of the night simply for free pancakes. Honestly, this event was one of the coolest things to shoot and I have no idea why. And yeah, I know. It's more Mackay shit.

Urban Caving.

Okay. You know that previous post about my having a strange obsession with infiltration places I shouldn't be?

Entering, Never Breaking

Well there's an entire subculture of people dedicated to that evact sort of thing. Go figure, right? Just when I think there's something odd about me I find a niche. I don't know if that makes me happy or dissapointed. Point is, there are people with whom I can talk about this and sound sane to.

Formally called Urban Exploration, It includes exploring abandoned buildings (so awesome), active buildings (I do that), and the vast array of underground structures beneath cities (that's how I got started). Also included in this subculture is a wide graffiti art interest. And if any of you know mw, you'll put some things together.

I happened upon this by vainly searching for my name on Google. I came across another Daniel Clark, who is also a photographer and Urban Explorer in Europe. Coincidences are very neat things.

What day is it again?

It seems like my days are so structured now that I have no room at all to grow or LIVE. Get up. Get ready. Go to work. Go to class. Go to Sagebrush. Go to bed.

Repeat until insane.
