Back in Action, or Welcome Week Midnight Pancake Traditions

One thing I'm going to miss about the university come the end of this year is the Midnight Pancake Breakfast. It's become a personal tradition as well as a legitimate University tradition. My tradition is shooting the hell out of it. This is by far one of the most enjoyable events to shoot I've ever come across. Maybe one of these days I'll compile all of the pancake shoots into one comparative one. I attempt the picture of Mackay every year, and every year I want it to do something it won't. This year was fairly successful, but I'm coming to the conclusion that the I might not ever get it right.

Anticipation mounts...

The quad is covered with hundreds of chairs. The geometric placement of each and every one is carefully measured and executed. Years of work, from teachers, parents, friends, family and the graduate themselves has nearly reached its inevitable peak. Graduation is upon us. *Suttle green hue courtesy of Blogger*

Rain.

Such a pretty world.

Snow as finals come to a close.

The first signs of snow showed on Sunday night. A light dusting that would in all probability be so much drain water by the next morning. So I let myself slip into sleep.

Early next morning I awoke only to realize the world was just a bit brighter out. Either I was getting up late or something was different. Turns out a fresh coat of snow was different. seeing as I'm a Vegas kid and I always will be, I grabbed my study gear (wish me luck) and my camera and went on my merry way. I wanted to capture Old Campus with an undisturbed coat of snow. I arrived alone with only two or three others around me hurrying into buildings. The snow made its soft sound. like rain, but softer. And I wondered how many others had seen and heard this event before. The university is old. And as I've said on other occasions, you can feel that history sometimes. I hope through these photos you will understand what I mean.

New location.

There's a 30 foot drop inside that hole. If anyone has access to a long rope ladder I would be appreciate if I could borrow it.

I'm starting to think that there's more to this university than meets the eye. Secret tunnels, secret rooms, hidden floors. I get the feeling that there's still more to come.
