More logo stuff!

So Gabe asked me to make him a logo for his one man event planning venture. (The first show is on Halloween by the way.) He's calling it The Stoplight Los Angeles. I made some sketches and eventually came up with the second one here. The colors are as such because they were the ones in my pen cup. I would also like to hi light the fact that the word "plight" is intentionally sectioned to be its own thing. I feel struggle is important, and I also feel Gabe would agree.

The New killers Single

It's brilliant, and you don't have to take my word on it. Though I couldn't see why you wouldn't: I am a music taste god. All faux egotism aside, the song, Human, a really good song. People are hailing it as a return to their previous sound. I do see the resemblance. But what it reminds me of is if I were to travel the globe and return home. The suttle changes in my personality and beliefs could be paralleled to the changes in the Killer's sound.

Also! In the background there's a distinct beat derivative of a type of music called either chiptune or chip music. Essentially it's music made using only sounds from old 8 bit video games. Like the gameboy, and old Nintendo systems. www.8bitpeoples.com has a lot of samples. Also my previous blog talks about it HERE. The point being, I liked to hear a generally unknown type of music fused into a Killers song.

The band of our generation.

The best band of our generation can be decided now. Because quite frankly any music made after this point is going to be "that confounded new noise those kids listen to!". The criteria was simple. "What band has made the most significant impact on not only music but also the hearts and minds of our generation". So, I have decided (no need to fret and worry) that the two bands that will hold a joint show to determine who will take home the crudely constructed trophy made of Popsicle sticks and glue are:

Anyhow, those of you who saw Children of Men will recognize this song. It's Ruby Tuesday, a cover of an old Rolling Stones song. I really like this version.

So I was wrong.

Despite my misgivings about this new Linkin Park album (Minutes to Midnight)I have come around to enjoy it. Most of it actually. Some things I can't get really. Why the change of heart? I noticed the obvious nuclear diarmament title. Minutes to midnight refers to how close we are to nuclear destruction:

The whole ablbum seems to be politically... I really don't want to use the phrase "politically charged"... influenced. The album is actually better than I gave it credit for. The music is certainly different than the band has really ever produced. I can only assume this is why I disliked it from the start. But if I put the previous albums aside and simply allow the music to play, it's very good.
