My first day as a Sagebrusher.

I thought I'd tell a story tonight. We were in the old offices at the time. And I was brand new to campus. I had turned in a disk with photos for review. (That was something you did back in the day.) And for my first assignment I met Amy Beck at the office. The first thing she asked me was if I'd ever used a digital SLR before.

Funny story. I lied. I had never used one in my life. I had used a film SLR before but never a DSLR. So here I was, expensive camera in hand, and I really didn't know how to use it. It wasn't too bad. Film and digital are pretty similar. So I took what I knew about digital photography with my hybrid camera and made some assumptions based on my film SLR experience and I came up with a somewhat decent range of use for the camera in my hand.

Oh faking it like only Journalists can.

Fun story. Hope you enjoyed.

Forgotten photo.

In a recent post I showed a few photos of the old sagebrush office. I forgot to upload this one. Hope you enjoy!

The more you know!

**I used the Knowledge Center computers again for these photos and I think the color is off again.**

(This is really the first time I'm actually using this blog for news content. Though this is relatively low level news, I think it counts. At the very least I'm sure I'd have some sort of case against the university if I died.)

A dumpster now sits in front of the old Sagebrush offices. Inside are bags filled with debris and hazard clothing. Suite A is sealed off and air is constantly pumped in and out of it. Behind three layers of plastic, a sign warns against entry into the building. Apparently The Nevada Sagebrush was operating inside a building rife with a builders best friend (circa 1905) Asbestos.

One story about the Sagebrush office begins with a sudden server failure paired with an internet failure. The solution was deemed to be getting into the suite next door to reset the server...or something like that. Explorations under the offices yielded no entrances into the next suite. The next course of action was, of course, a venture through the attic. I was the individual who volunteered for these adventures. We joked about Asbestos. Now it seems we were right.

This week in photos (Eighteen point one)

Here are two photos I took this week. The major update is coming tomorrow.

This is froma wine shoot Mike Higdon and I did for the dining special section this week.

Another self portrait. I was working late at The Sagebrush.
Be on the lookout for some portraits of UNR individals soon. I want (I hope I can do this) to take a portrait of Sean McDonald, Brian Benedict, and perhaps Brian Duggan soon.

This week in photos (Seventeen)

Still no photo galleries, much to do with my being a lazy ass.

I've got a wide variety of things for you today. It ranges from art stuff to journalistic stuff, have fun.

These next photos are really interesting. There's a house, rather two houses that have been abandoned and ripped to pieces. I found what was outside the house to be a kind of reflection of the house itself. I could talk about this for hours, the way the glass snapped beneath my feet, the way the wallpaper fluttered in the winds that came through shattered windows.

This week in photos (Sixteen)

Here we are again, another week. I've got some photos for you and (ohmygosh) some links.
The first link I'll throw out there is to the Nevada Sagebrush Staff Blog  which I will be making entries into now. please enjoy my latest post.

I'm also going to push some hilarious short flash movies made by ASUN officials. If you go to UNR you'll enjoy them more.

And the last thing you get is your weekly blast of color (and some black and white!)

This is for our health care CP. One out of five students is uninsured.

Tennis is fun. I walked a Shit Ton to get there. Most of it was done by bus, but a lot was walked. I have the burns to prove it.

This is like my trademark shot.

A step team ripping off their shirts, literally.

These are middle school kids, seriously. They rocked.

Standing on stage before a huge crowd.

A "safe lease".

There was a fire near campus.

Fire, again.

Students who brew their own beer. Fuck yeah.

Hops.

Baseball.

Baseball. Awesome light from the setting sun.

This is coming pretty late, but I hope you enjoy it. Most of these didn't run in print, but they make me happy.
